research: dr. frisch research focuses on the interactions between group theory and dynamical systems. tools from combinatorics, logic, and probability regularly play crucial roles. particular topics i focus on are random walks on groups, ergodic theory and topological dynamics, and descriptive set theory. i am particularly fascinated by how group-theoretic restrictions can give rise to dynamical properties and conversely how dynamical systems reflect the properties of the acting group.
