biography

jason schweinsberg received his ph.d. in statistics from the university of california at berkeley in 2001. he then spent three years at cornell university on an nsf postdoctoral fellowship before joining the department of mathematics at ucsd in the fall of 2004.

schweinsberg does research in probability theory, focusing in particular on stochastic processes involving coalescence. he has also done some work on branching brownian motion, loop-erased random walks, interacting particle systems, and cancer models. much of his recent work has been motivated by potential applications in population genetics.
